Quiltography 2017-2018

QAK members have had so much fun and creative success  with the 12"x12" Quiltography project, that we're doing it again this year.

Project coordinator Dolores Fegan has announced that the new challenge theme will have an unusual twist. Members will be Quilting Around the Color Wheel.  Members have already submitted their photos for consideration, and a new colorful photo will be revealed every two months beginning in June.

Colors will be:  red in June, orange in August, yellow in October, green in December, blue in February and violet in April.  Quilters should be doubly inspired:  both by the color and by the photo content.

Participants will have two months to complete each challenge, and finished pieces can be posted on each deadline. However, bi-monthly deadlines are flexible.  The goal is to have all pieces completed by June 2018.    Participants do not have to complete all six pieces to take part in the challenge.

Quiltography quilts are displayed in a very specific way, mounted on artist canvas.  Edges of the canvas should be painted or concealed with fabric or decorative trim.  For hanging, place D hooks 4" from the top and string with picture hanging wire.

Contact Dolores Fegan for additional information.

The wonderful quilt behind the scene on the website was made by Karen Riggins.  Karen is a founding member of KHQS and has served the organization in several capacities including President and QAK Coordinator.
